3. December Goes Too Fast

Oh. My. Goodness. Where did this month go? I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling like a frazzled chip. I had plans to blog every week but sadly, I am one of these people who thinks I can get a lot more done in the day than is humanly possible. You’d think I’d have learned by now.

There are some finished objects to share and some that I can’t show just yet as they are gifts. First on the finished list is my Bide Shawl! I’m absolutely in love with it. I’ve been wearing it everyday since I managed to get a photo.

The pattern is by Helen Stewart of Curious Handmade as part of this year’s Knitvent and the yarn is West Yorkshire Spinners Retreat in the colourway ‘562 Escape’. I knitted the large size and used 3 balls but I didn’t add tassels as the pattern suggested.

I’ve also finished Rob’s cowl. I didn’t manage to get a very good photo yet and it is now wrapped up ready for Christmas but I will try to get a photo of him wearing it ready for the next blog post (if he’ll let me!).

I have also finished a project that I haven’t discussed at all in the previous posts. I cast on some shorty socks on the launch show of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing with the plan to join in with Ali from Little Drops of Wonderful’s Strictly Sockalong. However, I soon discovered that I couldn’t actually knit and watch the dancing at the same time so the cuff sat languishing in my project bag for months until late November when I realised that if I wanted to take part in the Christmas Eve Cast On this year, well, I would need those needles!

I suppose I could have frogged it but I wanted the finished socks.

I’ve been baking too, although they’re aren’t many photos as life has been hectic over the last few weeks and the lighting is awful for taking pictures at this time of year. I really struggle to get good photos with accurate colours.

I’ve baked chocolate brownies, mince pies and Christmas cupcakes.

Tomorrow, we’re off to Cornwall for our first Christmas away from home. We’re all really looking forward to it!
